THE FOLLOWING LONGWOOD HIGH
SCHOOL STANDARDS MUST BE MET IN
ORDER FOR A STUDENT TO ATTEND THE ACADEMY OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY:
1.
NO STUDENT
may be absent 12 or more days
during the current school year,
including any out-of-school suspensions.
2. Students must have
sufficient credit to be classified as grade 12 in the
appropriate chronological year.
3.
ALL
students and parents must
sign a BOCES contract.
4. Current BOCES
students may not exceed
more than 12 days
of absence in their current BOCES
program.
PLEASE NOTE: BOCES
offers many excellent
occupational programs, all of which Longwood High School
fully endorses. However there is a financial burden placed
on the district when BOCES students fail to attend
regularly, yet Longwood must still pay the full BOCES
tuition fee of approximately $12,000 per student. Therefore,
any BOCES student missing 6 or more days from BOCES during
the FIRST SIX WEEKS OF THE
SCHOOL YEAR will be
DROPPED
from their BOCES program and rescheduled for a full day of
classes at Longwood High School. In this eventuality, some
study halls may need to be scheduled until second semester
electives begin in January.
NO
5th
year seniors are eligible for BOCES.
In
addition to the above criteria set by Longwood High School,
The Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Teachnology
(BOCES) has set forth the following rubric that will be
utilized to admit students into one of their programs.
