TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS

If a student has a documented disability, he or she may be eligible for accommodations on the ACT or SAT. To receive test accommodations, the student must apply for and receive approval for the ACT from the ACT organization and for the SAT from the College Board. Scores may be canceled if it is determined that a student received accommodations that were not approved by either of these organizations.

Students must apply for test accommodations before submitting a test registration form, preferably in the spring before his or her first College Board exam. The following procedures need to be used for the SAT exam:

 ·         The student must complete a Student Eligibility Form as well as a Consent Form for Request for Accommodations (see link below).

 ·         These forms must be given to Ms. McCarthy, LHS Transition Planning Specialist, who will complete the appropriate part of the form and forward it to the College Board.

 ·         The approval process takes about six to eight weeks to complete. If approved by ACT or the College Board, an Eligibility Approval Letter stating the granted accommodations will be sent to students who are approved.
