Driver Education

Due to Governor Cuomo's Executive Order of May 21, 2020, Longwood High School will not offer Driver Education during the summer of 2020.

We will soon examine the possibility of students who were enrolled in the program during Spring, 2020 to resume in the Fall of 2020.

Thank you.

The Longwood School District’s Driver Education Program is certified by the New York State Department of Driver Traffic Safety Education (NYSDTSE) and is available for high school students who are at least sixteen (16) years of age on or before the registration date for each session.

Students may register for the Fall, Spring, or Summer session.

While Seniors have preference in registering, the program is available to Juniors as well.

The fee of $420.00 can be paid via approximately one month prior to the start of each session.

Transportation to and from the high school must be provided by a parent or guardian during the summer, and buses may not be available to students enrolled in the Fall or Spring sessions.

Refunds are NOT available for this program.

Every student should arrive with a marble notebook, a pen or pencil, their driver’s permit, and a signed permission slip on the first day of class.

The district enforces a very strict attendance policy in order to abide by New York State regulations.

It is very important to understand two items:

According to NYS DTSE regulation, any student who does not comply with the attendance policy cannot be awarded their Certificate of Completion at the end of the program.

Road tests should not be scheduled until you are in possession of your certificate.
